Biography
| People have been telling me to make a career in art since the time I was in pre-school. I would have loved to pursue that, if only I posessed the motivation and dedication to such a long and tedious journey of becoming a professional artist. But, I know my levels of procrastination, as well as my mere fleeting moments of ambitiousness, would not get me far in the long run, so I do it in my spare time from my chosen profession in the medical field. I have lived in Northern California my whole life, but I long to travel, and I love stories and folklore from around the world. I am a huge fan of the original fairytales. My heritage is mainly Irish, and I find Celtic mythology fascinating, and I am an avid believer in supernatural phenomena. I pull a lot of inspration for my drawings from these interests. My childhood and adolescence was spent mainly buried in books and expressing myself through art, whether it be a drawing, singing or acting, mainly to distract myself from my homelife, which was often chaotic at best. I have never taken a "real" art class. I don't like taking direction and being told what to draw, when to draw it, and what to do it with. I tried once in 7th grade, and the teacher gave me a B on a project for using marker, instead of colored pencil. That was enough for me to be turned off of classes. I have been told I'm crazy to not further my talents, but like I said....my ambition is lacking. I like to stick to traditional means of drawing, but growing up with computer drawing programs and photoshop for the last 18 years, I can't help but tweak a few things digitally now and then. As for now, I live in Sunnyvale with my boyfriend and my 3 kitties. I'm juggling my full time job in between my love for art. It's difficult but I try my best. |
Awards
- Best set design- I painted all the backdrops and sets for my high school plays. A few I did that year included "Rumours", "The Princess and the Goblin", and "South Pacific", the latter of which I won the award for.
Education
- Completley self-taught hereditary talent. I come from a good gene pool.
