Oh, this is beautiful! The Neptune Pool is my very favorite place in Hearst Castle, and I think you did a great job with it. The part I always loved most about it was the color, and you captured that perfectly.
Ok. I really don't know how you did that in watercolor. The colors are so deep and mixed so well. How did you do the highlights from the lights in the water? Did you do the blue first and then the whiteish-yellow over or did you just carefully outline the highlights in the blue? I really just can't get over the different colors in the water, it's just beautiful!
Thank you! I used watercolors from the tube and more paint than water to get the brightness. I did do the blue first, then the yellow and the white over that. So glad that you like it! I sketched out the lines first, maybe I will upload it into my scraps later and post below.
nice one!! like the peaceful atmosphere...
How was it not using your Prismacolors? I know you love them. haha Is that a fountain there with the bird, it looks like water gushing?
LOL, yes, I was dying to break them out but my husband keeps telling me "no....just use ONE medium until you get it right!" ITS SO HARD THOUGH!!!!! I WANT MY PENCILS!!!! yes, it is a little fountain. There are tons of beautiful statues all over the pool.
Well I think you really have to do what you feel best. If you feel you need to use pencils, use them. If artists only used one medium until they got it right, they'd only ever use one medium. lol It's all about style and what's preferable to the artist. That's what's being "right." But I digress...the fountain is cute. Didn't you post pics of these on FB or am I thinking of something else?
Yes, they are on Facebook too, in my "Cambria Vacation" folder. I love that place, it's one of my favorite vacation spots.
I thought it looked familiar. Was pretty, wish I had some nice places to visit. I need somewhere pretty, I miss nature! lol Jacey and I were going to go camping, apparently there's a nice place a few hours away but then I lost my job and all...I go check the mail every day just for that 2 minutes to be outside. Even though I know half the time the thing is empty. I never have any reason to go outside, or wake up when it's near dark. It must be nice to live where you do, you always post such pretty photos!
